World-class field of participants at the 2nd International High Jump Meeting on 13/14 July on Heilbronn Market Square
Olympic champions, world champions and numerous national championships. This year, the starting list for the 2nd International High Jump Meeting in Heilbronn once again includes jumpers of the highest level. On the weekend of July 13th and 14th, the world's high jump elite will be able to carry out one of the last endurance tests before the Olympic Games in Paris on the market square, which has been specially redesigned for the meeting.
On Saturday, the focus will be on women in the arena at the town hall. There will be a reunion with the first winner of the Heilbronn 2023 high jump, Eleanor Patterson from Australia, who won last year on the facility with a strong 1.95m. Alongside her, the Lithuanian and old Eberstadt well-known Ariane Palsyte will also be on the run-up, having already jumped over 1.97m this year. Other top jumpers in the field include the Finnish Ella Junnila, the British Morgan Lake and the Slovenian Lia Apostolovski.
From a German perspective, Christina Honsel from TV Wattenscheid will be competing together with local heroes Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch from VfB Stuttgart and Johanna Göring from SV Salamander Kornwestheim.
The men's field on Sunday offers everything a high jumper's heart could wish for. What didn't work at the premiere a year ago will work this year. Olympic champion Mutaz Essa Barshim from Qatar will be standing at the finish line in front of Heilbronn Town Hall. With the most successful high jumper of the past 20 years, a big dream of the Heilbronn High Jump organizing team has come true. Also taking part will be Australians Brandon Starc and Joel Baden, who also took part in the "rain party" on Heilbronn's market square last year. This year, with hopefully great weather and ideal conditions, they want to use the arena to achieve good heights. A true "old master" could cause surprises: 2007 World Champion Donald Thomas from the Bahamas wants to reach old heights in Heilbronn in order to be prepared for the Olympic Games.
The German Tobias Potye from LG Stadtwerke München wants to get back into shape after a short injury break and test his form before the Olympic Games.
Before that, there will be a new feature for the Heilbronn event. On the Saturday before the women's jumping, a youth competition will be held in which the best German youth athletes will jump in front of this impressive backdrop for a new personal best and participation in the European Youth Championships.
The weekend program is rounded off by a culinary offering in the town hall courtyard, which is also open to visitors without a ticket. The opening event will take place on Friday from 7 p.m. A selection of different drinks and dishes will be complemented by music and a light show.
The International High Jump Meeting Heilbronn is essentially made possible by the two main sponsors, Schwarz Dienstleistung and Kreissparkasse Heilbronn. Both give the six-person initiators from the supporting association Internationales Hochsprungmeeting Heilbronn eV the financial means to hold such a unique athletics event in Heilbronn. "We are delighted to be supporting the Heilbronn High Jump Meeting again this year. The event stands for principles that are particularly close to our hearts at Schwarz Dienstleistung: teamwork, commitment and performance. Only through the interaction of a great team and passionate commitment can an event like this succeed, which gives the athletes the stage to present their impressive achievements. We are looking forward to another unforgettable event," explains Roland Hehn, Human Resources Director at Schwarz Dienstleistung. "Kreissparkasse Heilbronn is always happy to support major sporting events. For decades we were the main sponsor of the Eberstadt High Jump Meeting and we are now happy to continue this tradition in Heilbronn. We are looking forward to a real highlight in the heart of the city,” says Joachim Schmutz, Head of Corporate Communications and Management Board at Kreissparkasse Heilbronn.
Other sponsors and partners provide significant support for the event, making world-class sport possible in Heilbronn. The event is organized by the athletics department of TSG Heilbronn. The organizing team, which consists entirely of volunteers, is very grateful for the trust placed in them.
